MSI Touchpad Not Working: Windows Settings & Model Checks
Check the touchpad hotkey, Windows settings and device identity before replacing an MSI touchpad driver.

Use the key marked for your touchpad
Find the touchpad symbol on your keyboard. The key and whether Fn is needed vary by model; do not assume one function key applies to every MSI laptop.
Check Windows 11 touchpad settings
Open Settings, select Bluetooth & devices, then Touchpad. Confirm that it is enabled. If an external mouse changes its behavior, inspect the relevant touchpad options.
Record the device before reinstalling
Review the touchpad-related device in Device Manager. MSI’s current FAQ recommends Windows Update for modern Precision Touchpads; follow the original article for its device-reinstallation steps. A package titled Intel Serial IO is not proof of the physical touchpad supplier.
Choose exact-model support
Search your complete MSI SKU and read its recorded system and installation notes. If the settings and official procedure do not resolve the fault, consult MSI service; a driver is not guaranteed to repair a hardware problem.

This independent checklist summarizes selected steps. Consult MSI’s original support article for the full procedure.
