MSI Laptop No Sound: Output Settings & Audio Driver Checks
Check playback output, application volume and the exact-model audio package before replacing an MSI sound driver.
Reviewed 2026-10-04 · General notebook guidance, not SKU-specific compatibility verification
Check playback output
Open Windows sound settings. Select the intended speaker output and confirm it is enabled and not muted. A connected display or headset may change the selected output.
Check the affected application
If only one program is silent, inspect its volume in the Windows volume mixer before changing drivers.
Match the audio package
Record the complete MSI SKU and installed operating system. Look up Audio entries on the exact SKU page and read the package notes. Do not assume a generic Realtek package includes every model-specific audio component.
Recheck after installation
Use the official matching package and its instructions, then restart and test the selected output. If the problem remains, use MSI support for further diagnosis. Specification-only pages do not provide a verified audio download.

This independent checklist summarizes selected steps. Consult MSI’s original support article for the full procedure.
